Giraffe, the low-cost, automated recruitment platform for medium-skilled workers announces the launch of its newest tech innovation: automated candidate voice screening.
Giraffe’s automated mobile recruitment app enables businesses to recruit staff faster and more affordably than any other way, and connects medium-skilled jobseekers with opportunities for free. By doing so, Giraffe aims to help reduce unemployment in South Africa. Since launching in Johannesburg February 2015, Giraffe has attracted over 700 thousand medium skilled jobseekers and scheduled several thousand candidates for interviews, primarily for permanent jobs in retail, call centre, banking, transport and admin.
How it works
- The new automated voice screening feature provides an additional layer of screening to help employers shortlist candidates more accurately.
- Candidates that qualify for a position are invited to take a voice assessment via SMS.
- With a click of a button, Giraffe’s system automatically calls the candidate and plays a customisable instruction.
- The candidate’s response is recorded and a voice clip is sent to the employer’s dashboard. This means the employer can build a digital library of candidate voice clips from which they can choose candidates to progress through the selection process, thereby saving valuable interview time.
Voice screening benefits both the employer and the job seeker
Employers benefit hugely from this product because it saves a lot of time usually wasted on sourcing, screening and interviewing irrelevant candidates. The voice clip supplements the already screened CV by giving the employer a more nuanced and holistic view of the candidate before they interview them. This gives employers a much higher level of confidence to invite any given candidate for an interview.
Job seekers also benefit from automated voice screening because it effectively brings the first-round interview to them- at no cost to the candidate. Usually candidates would need to pay for their own transport for the first round screening interview- which they often cannot afford to do. Voice screening eliminates the need for travel and the call is also free for the candidate.
